Brief Description:  Conservation of biodiversity can be a profit generating operation. Finding plants that have uniqueness and integrity and are a part of personal expression allow people to develop unique gardens and agri tourism opportunities. Empowering people to create song, artwork, story or a festival will help the learners develop definitions of ‘value’. Learners will be able to define a process of recognizing what plants that have ‘value’ for them, and learn ways to engage others in appreciating the ‘value’ of the plant through special events, workshops, promotions.

Bringing Culture back to Agriculture and folk back to food

Brief Description: Immigrants travel with their folk seeds, stories and folk music. Throughout the world people have celebrated agrarian cycles of planting, growth and harvest through song and celebration. Our modern agriculture has removed us from these rich roots but we can look within to find ways of bringing our own version of ‘culture’ back to our ways of eating and living. Learners will be able to list several events that involve celebration of music with plant and seed. Learners will be able to describe ways they will be able to bring culture back to their own connection with plant and food.
